Wayang Puppetry Workshop - 6 April The Arts Centre

Teachers were treated to an illuminating talk by I Made Sidia, a fourth generation dalang. Made is an internationally renowned balinese puppeteer.
His powerpoint is here:
He also gave a wonderful demonstration of masks and an shortened version of the ramayana with shadow puppets.

Participants then had time to create their own puppets before a delicious meal. One teacher produced a unit of work available here

· Biodiversity 101 – What is happening in Asian forests? Linking Studies of Asia with the big issues, Year of the Forest at the Zoo, Australian Curriculum, and action based conservation programs, elephant breeding and conservation
· Asia forest trek and activity challenge that provides rich learning experiences aligned with the curriculum

Contemporary Asian Literature Day at the NGV - Feb 22

Anne Fischer from the AEF presented a comprehensive overview of the Australian Curriculum and provided a handout on and clarifiying the differences between Asia as a priority and a general capability:
